Tuesday 14 February – SATISFIED?

Memorise: Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12

Read: Philippians 3:12-15

What you compare yourself with goes a long way in shaping your today and determining your tomorrow. The one who sees himself as a champion among crawlers is most likely a crawler too. If you are satisfied with your present spiritual state because of lukewarm believers that surround you, it shows you are already lukewarm and need revival. When some people see the “First and Last”, they brag about it and stay at that level, whereas there are higher levels ahead. As far as God is concerned, there is always room for you to keep rising in His presence until you see Him in glory. John the beloved saw Jesus with a glory he had never seen before yet he was told to come higher. As he obeyed, he saw the worship in Heaven and a door was opened for him to go further up in Heaven. If you are ready to climb, the ladder to take you higher will always be available.

But godliness with contentment is greater gain. 1 Timothy 6:6

Although contentment is a virtue every believer should possess, yet, it must not breed complacency especially when it relates to spiritual growth. Complacency has pegged the rise of many Christians. Why should you be satisfied with your current level when God has so much to offer you? Anyone who crossed the average mark one way or another was dissatisfied with his or her present state. If you are grossly dissatisfied with your current knowledge of God’s Word, fellowship with God and gifts of the Spirit manifesting in your life, you will soon find yourself at the level of excellence. Paul was one person who could not be satisfied. He thanked God for what he had achieved but continued to pant for greater spiritual heights. No wonder he surpassed other apostles of his day and still stands out today. Do you know that the level you are right now, which you think is your ultimate, can be made the least level of your achievements if you have enough hunger inside you? God may have so much in store, yet, what He has is for the hungry, not for the satisfied (Matthew 5:6). Are you satisfied with the level you are operating? Don’t be! Pant after more of God today!

ACTION POINT:
Your rise is a function of your degree of dissatisfaction. Ask God for the grace to never be satisfied with your spiritual achievements.

Bible in one year: 2 Samuel 19-21

[Life by the Spirit] You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. — Galatians 5:13 (NIV)
